We visitied with two grandsons qged 2 and 5 on a beautiful sunny day in February 2025 and had a great day out.The boys were fascinated with the caslte and the grounds. They enjoyed exploring every nook and cranny and even though only young they took in the info boards and enjoyed imagining living in a castle 900 years ago! Everywhere was clean and well tended and at £17.20 for four of us for a full day, I think it was good value for money. If we had thought to bring a picnic we would probably have stayed even longer!

A gorgeous experience. One of the oldest stone castles in the country. Lovely seeing how it grew and changed over time. The views from the top of the tower are absolutely incredible. And the cockpit gardens are a tranquil gem to relax in with soothing views down to the river. The town itself is a wonderful historic center full of sights to see. Looking out the tower you can see how the history shaped the town and area

Great castle with plenty of surviving buildings to explore can go all the way to the top of the main tower. Views of Richmond and the surrounding area are glorious. Good view of the river.

What An amazing experience walk around the castle and could go to the top of the castle also amazing views from the top also they have a museum that you can go in

Visited with my son today, little pricey but enjoyed the experience especially the climb and panoramic views of the keep.
Appreciate you pay if not a member but to be requested twice for a donation on top of paying to enter bit of a poor show really. Also the push to buy the guidebook not impressed.
Some of the signage could do with a refresh. Spent maybe half an hour there overall before felt we had seen everything and most of that time was top of the keep.

Parking is on Marketcsquare with a short walk to the Castle. Gift shop at entrance where there is a exhibition thro the ages until the 1st world war. Castle itself in parts is ruinous but the rebuilt part is in good condition. Great to explore and wander round. Well worth a visit
